  • Can you tell me a little about the American Bully breed?
The American Bully is a breed that was originally created for companionship before anything else. They are commonly a docile, submissive breed although because of their bull breed background can still be very goofy and stubborn at times. They are fairly easily trainable (depending on where you get them from, some breeders prefer to keep a high level of energy in their dogs which can lead to a high level of prey drive and a high level of stubborness that can be complicated for the first time owner to handle) and can excel at some low intencity sports when done safely and with the correct guidance from seasoned professionals. The American Bullies that we work with in our reproduction program are calm and affectionate natured and carry a high level of intelligence so they can be easily maintained by many different levels of handlers, from an educated and willing first time owner to a veteran of dog sports who is looking for a slower speed, yet still fairly agile dog to work with.
  • What does Canine A.W.A.R.E stand for? and what exactly is it?
Canine A.W.A.R.E stands for Always Watching Always Reading Energy and is a specified curriculum created by the Los Angeles Bully Department to help build a stronger bond and open line of communication with your dog. You can read a full breakdown of the program here. We feel that every dog is not just a loved member of the family but also a trusted lifelong team member or partner as well, and when the communication isn't clear between team members and partners, it leaves room for error that can cause dangerous and potentially fatal scenarios. When you and your dog are a strong functioning team with clear communication, you are both much safer and ready for anything that life might put in front of you.
  • Can anyone own a dog / puppy from L.A.B.D. ?
If you are the right match for the dog / puppy you are interested in, yes! Adopting our dogs and puppies out to the public is not something we always do and it is not by any means an easy task. We have high adoption prices for this exact reason and our dogs will only go to consistent homes who have the right energy, and are willing to continue with their training and bonding exercises.
  • Why are your adoption prices above average?
We keep our adoption prices above average because we want to be sure that our dogs are going into homes that are going to appreciate them to their fullest extent. We put a lot into our animals from day 1 and it shows in their appearance and mental state when you meet them. You know exactly what your dog / puppy has been exposed to, how they reacted, how they worked through it and why they were created in the first place. You have a full history of their past 3-6 generations and know exactly what to expect when you bring an L.A.B.D. dog into your home. There is no guessing other than guessing how wonderful your life will be now that your new L.A.B.D. dog / puppy is a part of it. Not only are you bringing a beautiful, intelligent animal into your life but you also get direct access to the people they came from and access to any answers to whatever questions that may arise during your 4 legged partners life. Have a question about their behavior? training? nutrition? geneology? socialization? etc....your answers are only an e-mail, text or phone call away. No need to spend hours searching for possible answers online or watching hours of youtube videos trying to figure out what will work best for your specific dog because your personalized introduction e-mail about your new dog will have most of the answers already there for you to reference (every new client receives a welcome home e-mail tailored specifically to their individual dogs personality and current needs, plus includes all current obedience / training commands they know and nutrition options) .. anything that isn't there we can personally help you with; If there's anything that we run into that we can't help you with, we are part of a large canine network and can point you in the right direction through only trusted dog experts...wether it's online or in your local area. We realize that a higher adoption price may seem a bit much at first glance, but once you understand everything you are getting along with an incredible new family team member, we hope that it reflects why they are what they are.
  • Are you affiliated with the LAPD?
No. Although we support all law enforcement officials we are in no way affiliated with the Los Angeles Police Department or any other law enforcement entities.
  • Why do you have a reproductive program?
The reproductive program exsists because it gives us a hands on, up close look at canines from every stage of life, starting before birth and every stage afterwards. It helps with the behavioral and communicative aspect of our all inclusive program and by learning our dogs from every stage of life we can then have answers for those who may not have that level of experience but can still benefit when applying our knowledge to their own dogs at home.
  • What about all the dogs in shelters?
We can definitely learn a lot from dogs in shelters however we can't fully understand the geneological aspect of why they do what they do as we don't know their full background and generational history. We have helped multiple dogs avoid rescue and shelter scenarios by helping them match up with the right homes to ensure they are not destined for a life of shelter bouncing because their individual personalities didn't match with the homes they were provided. If you are interested in a rescue dog, feel free to contact us and if we know of any dogs that meet your critieria we can be sure to point you in the right direction, and vice versa if you have a dog looking for a home and don't want to send them to a rescue or shelter, be sure to contact us and with the right information / scenario we may be able to help you find them the right home through one of our many dog related contacts.
